News from Nviz

08/11/2020

With UK Productions now restarting, we thought it would be a good time to update you on what 2020 has held for the Nviz team...

Nviz on screen

In spite of a global pandemic, Nviz have had a busy year, with a steady flow of projects coming in and out of the (virtual) building.

As an increasing amount of tentpole movies are going straight to home release, it's never been easier to see what we’ve been up to from the comfort of your sofa, with projects such as The One and Only Ivan and Artemis Fowl, available now on Disney+.

Earlier this year (and last!) we had some serious fun as the main vendor on An American Pickle, where we used techniques developed on Legend to enable Seth Rogen to play two characters simultaneously. An American Pickle comes to digital in the UK on 30th November, but in the meantime take a look at our VFX breakdown and learn about the ‘ Art of Twinning’ in this Befores and Afters feature.

Finally, in the absence of trick or treating this year, we celebrated by watching The Witches, now available On Demand. Nviz were proud to provide cutting edge Previs and Virtual Camera Systems, Postvis and Environment VFX for Robert Zemeckis’ version of the classic Roald Dahl tale.

Coming soon, to big and small screens

December will be a big month for Nviz-related projects, with The Midnight SkyNews of the World and Silent Night all hitting the screen.

For The Midnight Sky, Netflix’s latest sci-fi directed by and starring George Clooney, Nviz worked closely with VFX Supervisor Matt Kasmir and the teams at Framestore to deliver Visualisation, Virtual Production and post production Graphics. We are incredibly proud of the work the Nviz team did on this project and can’t wait to see it. Due for release on 23rd December, watch the trailer here.

Paul Greengrass’ News of the World is also set for a Christmas release. Nviz provided VFX on what will be our 4th project with Greengrass, an adaptation of the 2016 period western novel starring Tom Hanks. Watch the trailer here.

We are also looking forward to Silent Night, from MARV films and Director Camille Griffin, which features Keira Knightley in an atypical Christmas movie that’s sure to cause a stir. Nviz provided VFX and title design on this project, collaborating once again with VFX Supervisor Angus Bickerton.
